چکیده
The random forest, a powerful machine learning algorithm, is introduced to improve the performance of silicon arrayed waveguide grating (AWG)-based fibre Bragg (FBG) wavelength interrogation. experimental results show proposed method has high interrogation accuracy with root mean squared error (RMSE) 0.73 pm in whole demodulation range.

Interrogation of Fibre Bragg Grating Sensors Using an Arrayed Waveguide Grating
We experimentally investigate the use of an arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) to interrogate fibre Bragg grating (FBG) sensors. A broadband light source is used to illuminate the FBG sensors. Reflected spectral information is directed to the AWG containing integral photodetectors providing 40 electrical outputs. Three methods are described to interrogate FBG sensors. The first technique makes use...

A novel technique to interrogate a long-period grating (LPG) using a mechanically scannable arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) is proposed. This technique is implemented based on space-to-wavelength mapping by mechanically scanning the input light beam along the input coupler facet of an AWG. By employing a sampled chirped fiber Bragg grating with multiple peaks as a reference, the central wavelen...

This paper discusses design, fabrication, and characterization of a 512 × 512 arrayed waveguide grating router (AWGR) with a channel spacing of 25 GHz. The dimensions of the AWGR is 16 mm × 11 mm and is fabricated on a 250 nm silicon-on-insulator platform. The measured channel crosstalk is approximately −4 dB without any compensation for the phase errors in the arrayed waveguides. The AWGR spec...
متن کاملHigh-speed fibre Bragg grating sensor interrogation using dispersion- compensation fibre
Introduction: Fibre Bragg gratings (FBGs) have proved themselves as the ideal candidates for measuring strain and temperature in smart structures, civil engineering or other harsh environments. The advantages of the FBG sensor over conventional electrical sensors include small size, light weight, immunity to electromagnetic interference, low cost and other inherent advantages of fibre-optic sen...
